Title: KNOCKOUT (Wayward Fighters)
Author: J.C. Valentine
Genre: New Adult Romance

From the wrong side of the tracks...

Alyson Blake had learned early on that the only one she could depend on was herself. The only light in her life was a boy whom everyone agreed was destined for prison; but with his first kiss, he had set her soul on fire. Since the day the police dragged him away in handcuffs, she had managed to lead a quiet life, but when she attends an event fraught with mayhem, trouble resurfaces.

The one person she can’t forget...

Jamison Weston is the kind of guy dads load their shotguns for; endowed with a hot temper and a rap sheet as long as both tattooed arms. Known as “The Judge,” Jami’s hot temper, lethal fists, and cocky attitude have earned him respect and admiration both in and out of the ring. But just when he thinks he’s pummeled his past to death, Alyson Blake reenters his life.

Two paths collide…

After years of separation, Alyson is eager to reexplore the man who’s never left her thoughts, but for Jamison, she’s both the distraction he wants, but doesn’t need. As the two embark on a relationship that neither of them expected or bargained for, an outside threat closes in. When Alyson crosses the line of professionalism and takes her work home with her, her life is put in danger, leaving Jamison with no choice but to once again step in and become her protector.

About the author:

J.C. Valentine is the alter-ego of Brandi Salazar, whose enjoyment of tales of romance spurred her to branch out and create her own.

Brandi Salazar lives in the Northwest with her husband, their wild children, and far too many pets. As a university student, she studies literature, which goes well with her dream of becoming an editor. Brandi entertains a number of hobbies including reading and photography, but her first love is writing fiction-in all its forms.

1)     Do you believe that writing is about "Inspiration and not perspiration"?
To me, inspiration is the easy part and because it can be found anywhere at any time, it is only half the battle. Perspiration is all the work that goes into writing, starting with the very first word.

2)     Which force drives you, motivates you to push yourself harder and farther?
My readers are part of my driving force. I have mentioned it before, but I aim to please. I pay attention to what they want, and I do my best to deliver. My main driving force, however, is me. Once I start down a path, I push myself hard to achieve the goals I have set. I don’t believe in quitting.

3)     Is writing your goal, passion or just a hobby?
All of the above. I have a passion for writing. I love creating new worlds and characters and putting them in uncomfortable situations. It’s a hobby in that it is as much a pastime as it is a job, and I can escape into it just as easily as reading a good book. The job part of it is where I set goals for what I want from my writing. I set deadlines for myself and I have ideas of where I ultimately want my writing to go—I would love to be traditionally published one day!

4)     What are your best and worst experiences in Publication Industry?
I’m not traditionally published, but I think that publication, whether indie or traditional, come with similar hurdles. That being said, I have no complaints. I have learned an absolute ton since publishing my first novel, and I continue to learn more every day. While some experiences can be a little daunting, like creating the perfect cover, all are rewarding in the end.

5)     Who is your ultimate guide?
I think that would be my husband. I have friends I talk to about writing in general, but my husband is the one who hears and sees all and walks me through it. He is always ready with advice and critiques when needed.

6)     Do you believe that every writer needs a "Day Job"?
I guess that depends on whether they need one. Writing is, in itself, a “Day Job.” It commands a lot of attention and dedication, but it doesn’t always pay well. If a writer has the ability to focus solely on writing, then I think that’s the only day job they need.

A girl and a guy from broken homes find solace in each other's company but they have to separate. Jami is thrown in jail and Ally have to go on with her life alone. The book was very slow, it just dragged on and on. On the plus side the events were very realistic. Good Character development but character themselves were very cliche. Misunderstood Alpha Male and Kind and Caring Damsel in Distress. One of the most annoying part was the utter ignorance of Ally. It becomes very exasperating when the characters choose to ignore common sense. I guess sometimes it's important for the progress of plot but it's so stupid.

The book has a good cliffhanger but the fact that it's a very slow read makes it difficult to complete the book or not skip the chapters. It's an average book with good writing but bad plot.

Ash to Steele

Author: Karen-Anne Stewart
Genre: Romance
Rating: 4/5

Note: If you are not 18+ then you can't read this one. Tough Luck!

I am guilty of judging books by cover and title because I like pretty and mysterious or sassy looking books on my shelf. Sue me! So as far as Ash to Steele cover is concerned - OMG!The guy in the cover is so, so, so, so GORGEOUS! *Sigh* To top it off the title is Ash to Steele. It's pretty hard to resist this one.

Back to the story, which is sorta cliche, we have a bad guy and when I say bad guy I mean the total package - Ruggedly handsome, tattoos, bike and definitely can fight. Enters innocent Emma. Kind and sweet and a preacher's daughter. The usual.

What distinguishes the story of Breck and Emma is the balance in characters, story and writing.

Breck is broken and hence acts like a jerk to disguise that but even before meeting Emma he had a caring and protective side towards his friends. Emma might be a preacher's daughter but she doesn't goes around trying to "save people's soul". She is strong, independent and smart.

Which brings me to balance in story. The religious aspect of the story could have easily overpowered the book but as was the case in Rain trilogy, Karen-Anne Stewart kept religion in background. Similarly the "graphic sex scenes" which seems to be a trend after the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey" could have dominated the book but again Karen-Anne Stewart kept story above all. The focus always remained love and healing process which seems to be a recurring theme in her work.

Last but definitely the most important, the writing. There are some readers who while reading erotic romances just read the sex scenes and skips the rest while other readers skips the sex scenes in order to find some story, some thread of events, anything to make sense of the plot. The writing in 'Ash to Steele' is so engrossing and the way one event smoothly make way for another, there is not a single moment when you feel like skipping pages. It's good writing and easy read, something which is becoming increasingly hard to come across. This one is definitely a must read.

Top 5 Raina

1. Emma Stone
American actress and model. She is naturally blonde but she looks great as a redhead.

2. Deborah Ann Woll

American actress who has been using her celebrity status to help raise awareness for Choroideremia. Gorgeous with a good heart, very Raina.

3. Rose Leslie

Scottish actress who plays Ygritte in Game of Thrones.

4. Scarlett Howard

All I know is that she is a British model.

5. Evan Rachel Wood
American actress, model and singer which is great because Raina sings as good as a professional. To top it off she has a black belt in taekwondo. Perfect Raina!

After the Rain (Rain Trilogy #3)

Author: Karen Anne-Stewart
Genre: Romance, Mystery
Rating: 4/5

Note: This book is for adults only due to sensitive issues regarding abuse and trafficking.

I sort of stumbled on Rain Trilogy. While surfing in Goodreads I responded to a request to blog the book trailer which led to me reviewing the first book (Saving Rain) then the second (Healing Rain) and finally the third (After the Rain). I just got hooked from the first page and that is why I was almost in a state of denial. I just did not wanted to accept that this is the end, there is not going to be another one. Good books are like Good Friends but Good Series are like family. Rain Trilogy became my family. Kas and Raina became my family.

Because of my love I almost gave 'After the Rain' 5 out 5 but when I rationally and objectively considered the book, it's more of a 4.

The focus in the first 2 books was mainly on Kas and Raina's relationship and Raina's emotional recovery but in 'After the Rain' the focus not really shifts but broadens and Trafficking becomes the leading theme instead of a secondary one.

After abusive daddy and stalking ex-boyfriend Raina has to deal with Ghost. This means Kas goes in SUPER PROTECTIVE MODE. Raina was as usual strong but sometimes stupid. I love the fact that she is not "Damsel in Distress" but at the same time I love that Kas is always there as a "Knight in Shining Armour". The story was beautiful, writing was beautiful and ending was beautiful and even though some characters were lost in the way (God save their Fictitious Soul), mission was accomplished.

I guess there is nothing left to say accept I hope there is more of Raina and Kas, a novella maybe?

Eternally hoping with fingers crossed,

Journeys of Wonder

Sunday is over, again. But no worries. Lets start the week with Journeys of Wonder Vol. 1, 2 & 3.

1) Do you believe that writing is about "Inspiration and not perspiration"?
We believe that successful writing is a mixture of talent, hard work, and luck. While inspiration plays a huge part, without the hard work almost no progress can be made. We have witnessed so many writers, including those published in Journeys of Wonder, grow their careers and their writing ability through hard work.

2) Which force drives you, motivates you to push yourself harder and farther?
We're in an interesting scenario where our success benefits not only ourselves, but our authors as well. We strive to put high quality stories out on the market in a professional manner. It's our duty to provide this to the authors who have trusted us with their work. This is what drives us the most.

3) Is writing your goal, passion or just a hobby?
All three. Every time Ian writes a story or Fuzzbom publishes one, we're trying to grow in some way, which makes writing our goal. But we wouldn't be doing it if we didn't have a passion for it - and sometimes, we just have to step back and look at it like a hobby - because that's often the way to make it the most fun.

4) What are your best and worst experiences in Publication Industry?
Rejection - both receiving it ourselves and handing it out to people who have submitted to Journeys of Wonder. As hard as it is to receive a rejection letter, it feels even worse to send one to someone else. Sadly, we're a small operation and can only accept so many stories.

5) Who is your ultimate guide?
From a writing standpoint, we have been big fans of Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey. In our opinion, this may be the single best writing resource any aspiring author can read.

6) Do you believe that every writer needs a "Day Job"?
Each person is different. Some need a full time day job to pay the bills (like us), and some have writing as their full-time day job. Each person needs to do what is most comfortable for them

Featured in this volume are:
